Installation of the SideJacker Hitching System for Gooseneck Trailers will usually require some knowledge and equipment in mechanical ability and welding operations. Those who possess these skills and equipment can make this installation. We recommend for those who do not possess these skills or equipment have a qualified fabrication facility perform the installation.
Step 1)
Begin by removing the trailer jack from the trailer bulkhead.
Step 2)
Then attach the unit to the SideJacker (gooseneck version) to the trailer bulkhead wall. The unit should be bolted on for ease of any long-term maintenance that may become necessary. You may need to weld in place support structures to your trailer to allow the bolting on of unit. Various models have different attachment requirements. All units come with full installation instructions that will cover most application installations. Each trailer style may require a slightly different attachment process, to be decided on in the field.
Step 3)
Reattach the prior removed trailer jack to the newly installed SideJacker (gooseneck version) mounting brackects.
For manual jack models, a re-alignment of jack handle will be required, after the attachment of the supplied “slip Joint” jack-to-jack handle-connecting pipe. This usually requires a new positioning of the jack handle location, out approximately 2-3/4” from the old location.
Installation is complete! It's that fast and easy to upgrade a gooseneck or 5th wheel trailer to this amazing system.
